Assigning Who You Are in the Tree in the Ancestry App

When you've set yourself as “who you are” in the tree, you can view your relationship to anyone in the tree from their profile page. Relationships in your tree are calculated based on the data from your tree and don't take any DNA results into account.

If you have more than one tree, you’ll need to set who you are for each tree.

 

  1. In the Ancestry app, tap on your profile icon (photo or letters) in the top-left corner of your screen.
  2. Under Manage tree, tap tree name.
  3. Under Who are you? (iOS)/Who you are in the tree (Android), tap Select Yourself . Begin typing your name and tap it when it appears. To make yourself the home person, tap the Use as Home Person slider so that it turns green.


Troubleshooting

Wrong person assigned as yourself

Follow steps 1 and 2 above. Then, under Who Are You (iOS)/Who are you in the tree? (Android), tap the name of the incorrect person listed. Then type in and tap on your name.
